Rebecca Stenfors (b. 2001, Sweden) is an artist, writer and filmmaker based in London with a Finnish-Swedish background. Her practice meditates on homecoming as a chosen fiction where narration, diary-keeping and oral storytelling traditions become processes of returning to that which is out of reach (both in time and in place). She is fascinated by the illusory proximity and connection of the souvenir, which informs her approach to writing sensitive narratives that ruminate on generational memory, what it means and how it might be passed down. As a way of finding the words for this, she works between writing, moving image and performance with each mode prompting ideas of absence, return, hope, attempts at restoration/preservation/retrieval, memory and time symmetry. Rebecca is interested in how it feels to be read to, and the tender relationship between narrator and listener, reader and witness.
